The Building Services Department oversees comprehensive maintenance and repairs, custodial services, landscaping and project management for the County of Lexington facilities. The department is structured into several specialized teams:

Administration:

The Administration team ensures that all programs within the department operate efficiently and effectively. This team is responsible for managing work orders, overseeing special projects, handling procurement specifications, and processing routine purchases. They also ensure that budget adjustments are made in a timely manner.

Clear communication and coordination are essential for maintaining workflow across the department. Since all tasks begin and end with this team, their efficiency is critical in

keeping operations running smoothly. By ensuring seamless administrative support, they enable other teams to complete their daily tasks without unnecessary delays.

Custodial:

The Custodial team is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across 31 facilities covering approximately 423,725 square feet. Their duties include sweeping, moping, vacuuming, dusting, waste and recycling collection, and replenishing supplies to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.

Building Maintenance/Grounds:

The Building Maintenance and Grounds teams oversee the upkeep of around 150 sites totaling 1.3 million square feet across the County. Technicians provide preventative maintenance, repairs, and the installation of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. The team also handles special projects, including interior and exterior modifications to County-Owned and occupied facilities. Additionally, the landscaping team maintains approximately 44 acres of County property, performing lawn care, tree and shrub trimming, mulching, irrigation, and plant cultivation to keep outdoor spaces well-maintained.
