Mon, 02/25/2019

On Friday, the Lexington County Fire Service and County of Lexington welcomed 20 new firefighters during a graduation ceremony that was held at the Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church. The newly minted firefighters were joined by their friends and families to celebrate the occasion and to look back on the many weeks of training they endured together to become a part of LCFS.

LCFS administrative staff also took time to recognize several of the firefighters for the accomplishments they achieved throughout their training program:

LCFS Recruit Class 18-03 Academic Recruit: Andrew Topper

LCFS Recruit Class 18-03 Physical Fitness Recruit: Eric Herringshaw

LCFS Recruit Class 18-03 Honor Graduate: Johnathan Stokes

During the graduation, the firefighters were also given their badges and station assignments.  “We are the sign of government done right. We are only here to help,” Fire Chief Mark Davis told the graduates. “We will always go; we will do no harm. I encourage you to spend time in your community, get out and know your area.”

The graduates began their first shifts on February 25 in their new stations, where they will put the lessons they learned in training to use serving the residents and visitors of Lexington County.
